Evaluation & Selection

Audit Insight Tool
This tool is used to facilitate the analysis of a nonprofit organization’s audited agency-level financials. It is designed to automatically identify areas of strength as well as areas of concern that could impact the organization’s financial stability. It generates a list of probing questions that help get at the root of potential problems. Additionally, Audit Insight’s output highlights the organization’s financial trends over a three-year period, giving a context for projecting its longer-term financial health. The tool was created by REDF staff with input from Armanino McKenna LLP, a certified public accounting firm.

Protocol for Assessing Investment Risk – With Regard To The Likelihood That An Organization Is Producing Social Value
This tool is designed to enable external evaluators trained in its use – with explicit attention paid to achieving and assuring inter-rater reliability – to assess the risk that a nonprofit social or human services agency is not able to deliver measurable social value. This should provide meaningful information to nonprofit funders who care about whether the money that they bring to a given nonprofit is likely to be of benefit to society.

The Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool

Yes We Can! Performance Management in Nonprofit Human Services
The question of when and how to evaluate programs is an extremely complex one, and one that evaluators have done little to help funders, nonprofit executives and practitioners understand. Additionally, nonprofits provide funders with reams of data concerning their finances, activities, and products in formats and for purposes that often are idiosyncratic to each funder, arbitrary, and virtually impossible to explain or justify. This tool provides information on using evaluation to effectively manage programs, and ultimately help people.
